The short version
- Practices use power mostly in business hours, which are the peak and shoulder periods, so those rates drive the bill.
- Diagnostic and imaging sites should check for demand charges and the right network tariff.
- In a medical centre where the building bills you? You may be in an embedded network, with different rules.
- A medical practice in South Sydney was saving about $4,612 a year after our review, around 22% of its bill.
Real result: a medical practice in South Sydney
Medical practice, South Sydney. We priced the practice's actual usage across retailers, checked the bill for errors and the wrong tariff, and moved it to a better plan. No change to the site, the meter or the power supply.

Where a practice's energy goes
- Air-conditioning - consult rooms and waiting areas kept comfortable all day.
- Vaccine and medicine fridges - running 24/7, they set a steady base load.
- Sterilisers and autoclaves - high-power cycles throughout the day.
- Imaging and diagnostic equipment - X-ray, ultrasound and other machines that can create usage spikes.
- Extended hours - early, late and weekend sessions add up.
What we check for medical practices
- Peak and shoulder rates on your real usage - flat vs time-of-use, run on your interval data.
- Network tariff and demand charges - especially for diagnostic and imaging sites.
- Contract end date - what to do when your contract is ending.
- Price rises - most land in July. What to do with a price rise letter.
- Billing errors - estimated reads, the wrong tariff and fees that don't belong.
- Multi-site groups - each clinic on the right plan, with end dates lined up.
Busy practice? We do the legwork
Practice managers have enough to chase. Send us one bill per site. We'll compare retailers on your actual usage, check for errors, and send a plain-English summary. If you go ahead, we handle the paperwork and keep watching when prices change. See how that works for one client over three years.
How we get paid
There are no retailer commissions. Our fee is a share of what we save you, agreed in writing first. If we can't save you money, you pay nothing. Across our clients, the average saving has been 20% on energy costs.*
*Average of historic savings achieved for our clients compared with their previous rates. Savings depend on your usage, location, tariff and contract, and past results do not guarantee future savings. General information only, current as at October 2026.
Common questions
Will switching retailer risk our vaccine fridges or equipment?
No. Switching retailer doesn't touch your supply, meter or wiring. The power stays on; only the retailer and rates change.
Our practice is in a medical centre and the building bills us for power. Can you help?
You may be in an embedded network. Prices there are generally capped at the standing offer price, which can be above the best market offers. Send us a bill and we'll check whether there's a better option.
We have several clinics. Can you handle all of them?
Yes. Practice groups often have each site on a different retailer, rate and end date. We review each one and line them up where it helps.
We run imaging equipment. Does that change anything?
It can. Diagnostic equipment can push up demand, and some tariffs charge on your highest usage in a period. We check your network tariff and whether demand charges apply.
