The short version
- Dental equipment runs during business hours, so your peak and shoulder rates matter most.
- Small practices are often on rollover or standing rates without knowing it.
- Switching doesn't touch your surgery. It's the same meter and same power, just a different retailer and rate.
- A Sydney dental practice was saving about $6,252 a year after our review, around 32% of its bill.
Real result: a Sydney dental practice
Dental practice, Sydney. We priced the practice's actual usage across retailers, checked the bill for errors and the wrong tariff, and moved it to a better plan. No change to the site, the meter or the power supply.
Anonymised client. Annual saving estimated from the client's bills compared with its previous rates. Individual results vary.
Where a dental practice's energy goes
- Air compressors - powering handpieces and chairs, cycling all day.
- Suction units - running for every patient.
- Autoclaves and sterilisation - high-power cycles between appointments.
- Air-conditioning - surgeries and waiting rooms kept comfortable all day.
- X-ray, OPG and scanners - plus the IT and imaging that come with them.
Almost all of it runs between 8am and 6pm, in the hours when energy is priced highest.
What we check for dental practices
- Your rate vs the market, on your actual usage - not a generic "small business" estimate.
- Flat vs time-of-use - which one actually suits a practice open 8 to 6.
- Daily supply charge - often a big share of a single practice's bill.
- Contract end date - what to do when your contract is ending.
- Price-change notices - what to do with a price rise letter.
- Billing errors - wrong network tariff, estimated reads and fees that don't belong.
One bill, two minutes
Your practice manager doesn't need to compare plans. Upload the latest bill (a phone photo is fine) and we'll do the rest: compare retailers, check for errors and send you a plain-English summary. If you go ahead, we handle the switch and keep watching when prices change.
How we get paid
We take no retailer commissions. Our fee is a share of what we save you, agreed in writing first. If we can't save you money, you pay nothing. Across our clients, the average saving has been 20% on energy costs.*
*Average of historic savings achieved for our clients compared with their previous rates. Savings depend on your usage, location, tariff and contract, and past results do not guarantee future savings. General information only, current as at October 2026.
Common questions
Will switching affect our chairs or equipment?
No. Your supply, meter and wiring stay exactly the same. Only the retailer and the rates change, so there's no disruption to patients.
We're a single-chair or small practice. Is it worth it?
Often, yes. Smaller sites are more likely to have been left on rollover or standing rates, and the daily supply charge can be a big share of the bill. A review is free, and if we can't save you money, you pay nothing.
We're in a medical or strata building and the building bills us. Can you help?
You may be in an embedded network. Prices there are generally capped at the standing offer price, which is often above the best market offers. We can check whether moving is worth it.
Do you work with dental groups?
Yes. Groups often have each practice on a different retailer and end date. We review each site and line them up where it helps.
